LeBron James is in his 19th season, but he is still playing at an insane level. He’s had to increase his scoring this season to try and help the Los Angeles Lakers stay afloat offensively. Currently, LeBron James is averaging 30.0 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 6.3 APG while shooting 35.4% from beyond the arc.
When we look at LeBron James’ individual production, we can see that he is putting up the numbers of an MVP-level superstar. Lakers coach Frank Vogel has recently alluded to that, claiming that LeBron James is “deserving” of being in the MVP award consideration.

There is no doubt that it is highly unlikely that LeBron James will end up winning the MVP award. The Los Angeles Lakers’ positioning as a play-in tier team with a negative record likely ensures that. However, LeBron James is definitely playing at a high level, and perhaps we’ll see him win another MVP award in the future.
The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled this year, but LeBron James’ play has been one of the positive parts of their season. Though they are having trouble stringing together wins, LeBron James has previously claimed that he’s still having fun playing basketball, and added that he doesn’t care about the narratives surrounding the Lakers.
“I’m literally having the time of my life right now,” James said after the Lakers finished their four-game road trip by winning two of their final three. “The game’s such a beautiful thing.”
“Because I couldn’t care less what the narrative about our team is,” James said. “At my point in my career, I don’t get involved in that stuff. I don’t read about it, I don’t hear it too much. … None of that stuff matters to me, I’m having a blast playing the game of basketball.”
We should enjoy LeBron James’ play while we still can. He is definitely in the latter stages of his career, and his impact on the game has been undeniable. There’s no doubt that LeBron James is one of the greatest players to ever play basketball.
It remains to be seen fi the Los Angeles Lakers’ will manage to capitalize on LeBron James’ individual season. Hopefully, they are able to conclude the season on a positive note, and potentially get to the playoffs via the play-in tournament.
