Jrue Holiday is one of the toughest defenders in the NBA. But how would he fare in a boxing ring? Paul George asked Holiday whether he’d be open to fighting Jake Paul in a boxing match for $50 million. Holiday noted that if the price was right, not only would he be willing to fight him, but he might even be okay with throwing the fight just to secure the massive payday.

“$50 million? That really put things into perspective. I’ll make it look realistic… That last [Tyson] fight, I don’t know nothing about nothing, but I could do that. We could pump it up a little bit, I could take him through my whole training camp and all that. Once we get up there, Netflix will start messing up, so you can’t really see a lot of the fight. Now I’ll swing one time and he can hit me. Cool. $50 million [secured].”

Jake Paul made waves this past month, as he took on legendary boxer Mike Tyson in one of the biggest fights of the year. While he got the win, fans and critics all noted that Tyson had no business in the ring with Paul at his age. Perhaps Holiday can be a bigger challenge, as he is a star athlete in his prime.

Of course, should Holiday get this fight secured, he wouldn’t be the first NBA player to face Paul in the ring. Jake Paul took on former NBA star Nate Robinson in a boxing match in 2020. He famously knocked out Robinson and caused the former dunking sensation to go viral for his position on the canvas. Holiday would do his best to make sure he doesn’t suffer the same fate.

Jrue Holiday Vital To The Celtics

Jrue Holiday has proven his worth to the Celtics since arriving last season. Holiday was traded away from the Milwaukee Bucks last year as they traded for Damian Lillard. The Celtics wasted almost no time bringing in the former NBA champion, and it proved key in their 2024 NBA championship win.

Holiday this season has been a strong role player for them. For the season, Holiday is averaging 11.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game. He is still one of the best defenders on the team, and his relentless effort on both ends of the court is something Joe Mazzulla relies on tirelessly.

Jrue Holiday has clicked well with the Celtics, becoming a great and well-liked teammate. In the same interview with George, he also defended Jayson Tatum and questioned why he didn’t get much playing time at the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite being one of the best players on the team.

It is Holiday’s great attitude as a teammate, along with his strong performances, that makes him such a vital part of the Boston Celtics roster. The Celtics are looking to go back-to-back as NBA champions this year, and there is no denying that the team will rely on him as a point guard to help them achieve their goal.
