Kyrie Irving has a pretty complicated history with the media. From his flat-earth comments to his most recent words about his head coaching situation in Brooklyn, he might be one of the most misunderstood stars in the modern era.
In order to set the record straight, and change the narrative, Irving has decided to boycott the media, skipping the NBA’s annual “media week” to issue the following statement:
Kyrie Irving issued a statement that says, in part: “My goal this season is to let my work on and off the court speak for itself.”
He said he is issuing this statement instead of speaking with reporters. pic.twitter.com/ninUzAnhzC

Naturally, the statement itself drew mixed reactions from fans…

It really doesn't matter what Kyrie does. The media is perfectly capable of making up stuff to say over and over and over again.

I hope this is the page turn in Kyrie's career and he can start being the player we saw on the Cavs again.

I honestly just look to him for a chuckle nowadays. So talented but so laughable trying to be quixotic

Irving’s reputation has taken a huge hit since his exit from Cleveland, and his chats with the media have not played well for him.
This season, his first on the court with Kevin Durant, is starting with a similar level of dramatics. This time, however, his partnership with Kevin Durant could bring major successes on the court.
We’ll see what that does for his legacy.
