LaMelo Ball has been one of the NBA’s top young stars this season, averaging 14.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game on 43.7% shooting. Even better is the performance of his team, which currently stands at 7th in the East with a 13-15 record.
Amid exciting times for Melo and his squad, the NBA caught up with him to ask a series of questions about his life, his favorite things, and basketball. When asked to list his ultimate dream team, the young star made things interesting by picking himself, Michael Jordan, LeBron, Kevin Durant, and Shaquille O’Neal.
.@MELOD1P picks Michael Jordan, @KingJames, @KDTrey5, and @SHAQ to join him in his dream starting five. Can you form a lineup that includes the @hornets guard? 🤔

At 19-years-old, Melo grew up watching guys like LeBron and Durant. No matter what you say about them, their insane talent-level cannot be denied, and it’s easy to see why Ball would include them in his ultimate starting five.
As for MJ and Shaq, that’s another pair of easy selections. Both are, arguably, the best players to ever play their positions.
Perhaps the most interesting thing, though, is Melo including himself. It’s no secret that the Ball brothers are not short on confidence, and LaMelo is no exception. To put himself in the same sentence as those legends, though, is really being bold.
We’ll see if he is able to convince others it’s where he belongs…
