LeBron James is well-known for being one of the most prominent superstars in basketball today. He is the face of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise currently, and he has won the Finals MVP when the team managed to win the 2020 NBA championship. As impressive as his accomplishments are on the court, what is equally as impressive is his business acumen off the court.

Recently, Forbes announced that LeBron James is officially a billionaire. It was reported that LeBron James has “maximized his business” and made “more than $1.2 billion in pretax earnings”:

“James has done just that–maximized his business, to the tune of more than $1.2 billion in pretax earnings. He has commanded more than $385 million in salary from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers as the NBA’s highest-paid active player. Off the court, he has raked in upwards of $900 million in income from endorsements and other business ventures,” wrote Chase Peterson-Withorn of Forbes.

LeBron James made an Instagram post after being named a billionaire, which featured a photo of him from the Forbes article. The caption featured a chess piece, obviously symbolizing the moves that he’s had to make to get to where he’s at.

There is no doubt that LeBron James has had many successful business ventures. He is a minority owner of soccer club Liverpool FC and even has his own Tequila brand. It is clear that he put in a lot of work to get to where he’s at, and becoming a billionaire is no easy task.

LeBron James is an iconic figure, and there’s no doubt that he is an all-time great that people will remember not only for his basketball prowess but for the things that he does outside of the sport. He’s not done yet though, and it is quite likely that we’ll see LeBron James continue to accomplish spectacular things in the future.
