LeBron James’ 47-point explosion had plaudits pouring in from all directions. The Los Angeles Lakers star celebrated his 38th birthday by dishing out a masterclass to help the misfiring unit a 130-121 win against the Atlanta Hawks.
James was ably assisted by Thomas Bryant (19 points) and Russell Westbrook (14 points), but it was the veteran who continued his consistent run and deliver.
Fans and players were in awe of James’ spectacular outing, and some of them felt he was better than Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

James missed a near triple-double after coupling his 47 points with 10 rebounds and 9 assists. But his efforts ensured a much-needed win for the Lakers.
The Lakers Must Add The Right Pieces Around LeBron James And Anthony Davis
It’s not every day that one sees a 38-year-old put up a scintillating performance, but LeBron James has been on a tear this season so far averaging 28.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists. His last five games have seen him prop up 34.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists.
His consistency has been one of the driving forces for the Lakers in their sine-wave run so far, and with Anthony Davis missing out with a stress fracture, the Lakers’ front office could perhaps look at adding a perfect piece that would complement James and help the side make the playoff push.
The veteran came into the contest against Atlanta on the back of a blunt press conference after the team’s ugly 112-98 loss to the Miami Heat, where he clearly outlined his future goal.
“I donโt have a number,” James said. “I know as long as my mind stays in it, I can play at this level for a minute. Now, thatโs up to my mind. My body is going to be OK because if my mind is into it, I will make sure my body is taken care of and Iโll continue to put in the work.”
It’s clear that James has the mental fortitude to win, and given how he takes care of his body, he still has a few more years of quality basketball left in him. It’s high time the Lakers give him a roster that would make them bonafide contenders.
