Rajon Rondo Almost Cried During Lakers' Preseason Game Against The Nets: "It Means Everything. I Was Away For A Year... Came Back And The Reception I Got, I Had To Try And Focus On The Game"

Rajon Rondo has recently been traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers by the Los Angeles Lakers, with the team getting forward Denzel Valentine in return. While a lot of players would likely be if they lost the opportunity to play with superstars like LeBron James on the Lakers, it seems as though Rajon Rondo is excited to join the Cavaliers.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has revealed that Rajon Rondo is "eager for the chance" to play a bigger role on the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have recently lost 6th man Ricky Rubio to an ACL injury. Rajon Rondo and Ricky Rubio are both amazing playmakers, and it's easy to see why the Cleveland Cavaliers thought that Rondo would be the solution for the team.

Rondo is eager for the chance to play a bigger role with an ascending Cavaliers team in the absence of Ricky Rubio, sources said. He has been positive on the deal since it was presented to him as an option Thursday.

Rubio was lost for the season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee on Tuesday.

Rajon Rondo hasn't been getting many minutes on the Los Angeles Lakers, but it is quite possible that he'll thrive on the Cleveland Cavaliers with more minutes. On top of being a great facilitator, he is a capable defender. With younger players like Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley taking on the scoring load, Rajon Rondo will be able to play to his strengths.

We will see what happens when Rajon Rondo joins the team, but this could definitely be a good opportunity for him. While Rajon Rondo is unlikely to get a championship parade this year, he could definitely be a good veteran leader with championship experience for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and impart some of his wisdom on a young squad.
