Russell Westbrook has had a lot of trouble adjusting to being a Los Angeles Laker. Westbrook joined the Lakers to help form a big three with LeBron James and Anthony Davis and help win a championship. But he hasn’t played anywhere close to that level and has been one of the biggest reasons behind the Lakers’ struggles.
Last night, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis both out due to injuries, Russell Westbrook was trusted to help carry the Lakers. Given the issues of his fit with LeBron and AD, many felt their absence would allow him to thrive. But he had an off night, as the Lakers lost to the San Antonio Spurs, something fans weren’t happy about. And if things weren’t bad enough, Russ even confronted a fan last night.
Russell Westbrook encountered a heckling fan during the Lakers’ game against the San Antonio Spurs. It isn’t quite clear what the fan said, but Westbrook felt it was disrespectful to him and his name, and instructed the fan not to disrespect his name multiple times.
Russ wasn't having the disrespect 💯

“Don’t disrespect my name!”
Westbrook spoke after the game in detail about the criticism he’s been facing recently. He noted that he would no longer allow fans to disrespect his name, and throw around the term ‘Westbrick’ because it was very detrimental to the legacy he would be leaving behind for his children.
Russ also addressed the interaction his wife had with Skip Bayless recently. He noted that his wife and kids have been struggling to cope with the visceral nature of the criticism he has been on the receiving end of. Things have gotten so bad that Russ and his family don’t want to be around for home games, as they don’t want to hear what fans will say about Westbrook if and when he has a poor moment in the game.
