Stephen Curry Says He’d Play For The Hornets If He Wanted To Play Somewhere Other Than The Warriors

Stephen Curry is the face of the Golden State Warriors, and there is no doubt that he has been the catalyst of the best stretch in franchise history. The team has won four championships during the Stephen Curry era, with them notably winning the 2022 NBA Championship after beating the Boston Celtics in six games.

There’s no doubt that the team will likely be contending in the near future. They have a good mix of veterans and young talent, and Stephen Curry noted that the team’s championship window will continue to be open.

We’ve talked about that. I’ve said it plenty of times, we have a lot left in the tank in terms of what we can do out there on the floor. Bring up the age thing, that’s something to talk about, but it doesn’t really reflect how we approach this playoff journey, our confidence in what we can do going forward.

It is quite possible that we see Stephen Curry win back-to-back championships. His team situation is great, and as long as the Golden State Warriors have Curry on the roster, they’ll always be a contender for the championship.

Stephen Curry Would Play For The Hornets If He Ever Wanted To Hoop Elsewhere

Obviously, Stephen Curry is a loyal player, and it is highly unlikely that he ever ends up leaving the Golden State Warriors. Stephen Curry wants to finish his career there, and he has a great team situation as well as an elite front office. It’s hard to imagine Curry wearing another franchise’s jersey after his success with the Warriors.

However, it seems as though Stephen Curry does have a team that he’d be willing to play for if he ever wanted to play for a non-Golden State Warriors franchise. Recently, Curry revealed that the Charlotte Hornets would be the team for him in that scenario. (4:02):

“I’ve always said I wanted to finish my career at Golden State because of how much it means and the experiences and teammates and the journey we’ve been.

Everybody asks me, “You wanna play one year for the Hornets and come back?”… I am not breaking any news right now, I’m not making any promises. All I would say is if there was a team that I did want to play for that was not named the Warriors, that would be it.”

Obviously, Stephen Curry’s father Dell Curry played for the franchise. It would definitely be fun for fans to see Stephen Curry play for the same team that his father used to suit up for, though obviously, that is a very distant possibility as of right now.

It is clear that, currently, Stephen Curry has no desire to play for a team other than the Golden State Warriors. Hopefully, things remain that way, and we’ll see how many more championships Stephen Curry can win with the team.
