Video: Tim Duncan And David Robinson Go One-On-One In The Post During San Antonio Spurs Practices

Tim Duncan and David Robinson were one of the best “twin towers” pairings that the league has ever seen. Duncan and Robinson were a lockdown duo defensively, and their presence near the basket often deterred opponents from driving to the rim.

David Robinson had a lot of respect for Tim Duncan, and Robinson once claimed that the power forward getting drafted by the Spurs was “the best thing” that happened to him during his entire career.

Tim was maybe the best thing that happened to me in my whole career. Obviously, having owners like Red McCombs and Peter Holt was fantastic and coaches like Larry Brown and Pop were phenomenal. But I can say that Tim is probably the best thing that ever happened to me. He helped me as an individual to grow up and be a better a player. He helped us achieve the long-term goals that we set, winning championships. And he helped us become the model franchise over a 25-year period. He was kind of that last piece of the puzzle. It’s honestly a no-brainer when you think about the synergy between the two of us and what it allowed us to accomplish.

There is no doubt that the duo proved to be fearsome when playing together. However, it seems as though the duo was also very competitive when playing against one another as well.

Tim Duncan And David Robinson Used To Go One-On-One In The Post

In practice, we often see players go one-on-one, whether it be within a scrimmage setting or just a contest between two players. There’s no doubt that this is a good way to work on getting one’s own buckets.

Recently, the Instagram page NBA Buzz posted a video of Tim Duncan and David Robinson going one-on-one in the post during a San Antonio Spurs practice. It is clear that the big men were trying hard to score on one another. This exercise likely helped refine both of the stars’ games.

Tim Duncan is generally considered the greatest power forward of all time, and he is generally viewed as a top 5 player of all time. Though he had a quiet demeanor, Tim Duncan is almost universally respected as an elite superstar that was willing to do whatever was needed to win.

The Spurs duo of David Robinson and Tim Duncan is definitely underrated among fans. Most people remember the trio of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker, but there’s no doubt that the Tim Duncan and David Robinson duo was crucial to the team’s successful run as well.
