Steve Kerr Thinks Steph Curry Has Been Trying ‘Too Hard’ To Break NBA 3-Point Record

With Christmas right around the corner, Steph Curry is giving us all an early present. Sadly, it looks like we’ll have to wait longer than expected to receive it.

Entering tonight’s game, the Warriors star was 7 threes away from surpassing Ray Allen on the NBA’s all-time 3-pointers made list. He only made 5 on Monday, meaning we’ll have to wait one more day for him to make history.

In his post-game chat with the media, Steve Kerr hilariously joked that he’ll sit Curry just to ruin everyone’s night.

On a more serious note, Kerr also mentioned that he thinks Steph has been trying a little too hard to break the record, suggesting it has been to the detriment of his team.

“He looked like he was moving really well. I think he’s been trying a little bit too hard the last few days, just trying to make threes and get to this record. It’ll be a relief for him, for our team, when he does break it. I just think he’s been trying a little bit too hard. He just needs to make the simple passes, he knows that, but he’s kind of trying too hard to make the big play.”

Both Curry and his squad have not shot the ball well these pasts few games. In Monday night’s narrow 2-point victory, they made just 8 threes while Steph was 5-15 from range. In their loss against Philadelphia, Steph shot just 30%.

The good news is, Curry is almost bound to break the record tomorrow in Madison Square Garden. With the chance to make history on the world’s biggest stage, it’s not an opportunity he’s likely to pass up.

More importantly, he’s just looking to come out with a win and keep his Warriors at the pace they’ve been going all season long.
