NBA Insider Reveals How The Miami Heat Could Land Kevin Durant Or Donovan Mitchell: “Miami Is Trying To Go Find Multiple Picks To Either Send To Utah For Donovan Mitchell Or To Send To Brooklyn For Kevin Durant.”

3 Min Read

The Miami Heat had an amazing 2021-22 NBA season. Despite the Eastern Conference being highly competitive, the franchise managed to clinch the number one seed.

Additionally, the Heat continued to put on a show for fans in the NBA playoffs. Although Jimmy Butler gave his very best in the postseason, the Heat were knocked out in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Despite the Heat being as good as they were, Butler didn’t see the best of the rest of his teammates come playoff time. As a result, the organization is doing its best to bolster the roster and onboard another All-Star level player.

Since the start of the offseason, the Heat have been linked to none other than the Brooklyn Nets’ disgruntled superstar Kevin Durant. After just three seasons with the Nets, KD demanded a trade. Additionally, he named the Heat as one of his preferred destinations to get traded.

But trade discussions around KD have been stalled for the past few days. Apart from Durant, the Heat could also try approaching Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell has spent five seasons with the Jazz, but the franchise is now seemingly heading towards a rebuild.

They’ve already traded their other star Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Heat are a new entry in the race to acquire Mitchell following the failed trade talks with the New York Knicks.

Speaking of the two targets for the Miami Heat, NBA insider Jake Fischer dropped some vital information about how the franchise could land either KD or Mitchell in a recent podcast.

“I have been told from multiple people that Miami is trying to go find multiple picks to either send to Utah for Donovan (Mitchell) or to send to Brooklyn for Kevin Durant.”

While acquiring KD will certainly require adding a lot more than just a bunch of picks, this trade scenario could work in the case of Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell might not be at the level of Durant, but with the duo of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo by his side, he could be a great addition to the Miami Heat. But the question remains, how will the Heat get so many picks in the first place?
