It was an ugly scene in FedExForum on Thursday night as the Golden State Warriors suffered from one of their worst games ever. It was a 144-93 rout in favor of the Memphis Grizzlies, and it was a game that they controlled pretty much the entire night.

On social media, fans were shocked to see the Warriors in such a rough state. While they’ve recently fallen on hard times after a hot start this season, nobody expected a blowout like this and it was a strange feeling for fans after the game.

“As someone who’s watched every Wizards game since last season, nothing could prepare me for this Warriors game,” wrote one fan in disbelief.

The Warriors shot 35.6% from the field tonight and had 17 turnovers. They went 12-36 from three while allowing the Grizzlies to go a whopping 27-48 (56.3%) from beyond the arc. The game was pretty much over in the first quarter and it raises some serious questions about their trajectory this season.

“Another game where the Warriors lose it in the 1st quarter,” wrote one fan. “Team looks slow and unathletic.”

Perhaps the most worrying signs from the Warriors tonight were their effort and overall body language. Once they realized that the shots weren’t falling, the players lost all faith.

“The lack of effort makes the Warriors so hard to watch like they don’t adjust sh*t,” one fan posted on X. “We throw lazy passes, don’t communicate on defense and we take low percentage shots so of course we are losing games. If help defense isn’t working then go man or do a zone correctly but no they just lose.”

Stephen Curry was particularly bad tonight and it might’ve been the worst game of his career. In 24 minutes, he put up 2 points, 1 assist, and 3 rebounds on 0-7 shooting and 0-6 shooting from three. He was a -41 in the game.

“The last few weeks these losses, the crunch time minutes, the turnovers, lack of focus, carelessness is on Stephen Curry,” posted a Warriors fan on X. “He gotta be better.”

It wasn’t just Curry that was bad. Pretty much everyone on the team was awful, including Draymond Green who finished with 0 points, 0 rebounds, and 0 assists, on 0-4 shooting in 19 minutes. He was a team-worst -42 on the court.

“Steph Curry has been so awful, he and Draymond take all the blame idc this whole team is a joke,” wrote one angry fan.

It was a failure on both ends tonight, as the Grizzlies were able to feast on the Warriors’ poor shooting. Jaren Jackosn Jr. finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in the blowout while Ja Morant dropped 9 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds in 17 minutes. Santi Aldama was their leading scorer off the bench with 21 points on 8-16 shooting.

“The Grizzlies had this game circled tonight. They didn’t forget what happened with Draymond, Edey, and Jenkins last time they played,” wrote Kendrick Perkins. “I mean they got on the Warriors a** like back pockets tonight. God Bless America.”

It’s been a rude awakening for the Warriors this season. With the departure of Klay Thompson and a revamped roster, they had hopes to compete for a title and those odds were looking good after a hot start in the first few weeks. But things have quickly taken a turn for the worst and the Warriors now find themselves down to 8th in the standings at 14-12.

In the aftermath of this loss, the Warriors are going to try their best to move on and make some adjustments going forward. While Steve Kerr will no doubt tweak the rotation, it’s the roster that will have to improve for this team to get back into the championship picture.

Next on the schedule for Golden State is against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center at 8:00 PM EST. It’s their last game on the road before heading back to Chase Center, where they’ll be for their matchup against the Indiana Pacers on December 23rd at 10:00 PM EST. Finally, the Warriors will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, December 25th at 8:00 PM EST.
