Paul Pierce has been a controversial person even during his time in the NBA. The Boston Celtics icon was involved in certain situations that raised some eyebrows and earned him a reputation around the league.

Now that he’s retired and bringing his insights as some sort of an analyst, things haven’t changed for Pierce, who recently participated in Kevin Garnett’s show visibly drunk. This didn’t sit well with plenty of people, including Stephen A. Smith, who called him out on social media.

“Things started to go off the rails quickly because fans noticed that Paul Pierce was apparently drunk, or at least his behavior seemed to be that of an individual who was drunk, slurring his speech, and all of this other stuff,” Smith started.

He recalled Pierce’s fallout with ESPN and how he acted during that wild live stream that cost him his job in the giant company.

“There’s certain stuff that you just can’t do, not when you’re working in corporate America, damn sure. Not when you’re working for Disney [which owns ESPN].”

“Don’t act like you didn’t know what the moral clause is. You looked like you had a lot of strippers in your house. You have some weed going on everywhere in, alcohol and all of this other stuff.”

Smith adds that Pierce didn’t act this way when he played in the NBA, because he knew he was representing the Boston Celtics and the image he would give would have cost him his job way too earlier.

Stephen A. also said that somebody needed to have a conversation with Pierce, remind him that he’s one of the 100 best players in NBA history and he must stop acting this way. He already lost a big opportunity at ESPN, and it could happen again if he’s not careful with his decisions.

Paul Pierce Hired An Escort And Took It With Him To Kevin Garnett’s Show

During Game 3 of the 2023 NBA Finals, Pierce introduced Kevin Garnett to his girlfriend while they live-streamed their reactions to the Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat game on the ‘Showtime Basketball’ YouTube channel.

He was involved in more controversy that night, getting mad when somebody threw a lighter at his face. Pierce didn’t leave a good image that night and things aren’t getting any better. He once got Julian Edelman arrested after drinking with the NFL legend, so you know things haven been this way for a while.

Pierce is still respected by fans who have fun with him and appreciate his insights. But it’s clear that he must do better and improve his behavior.
