When it comes to celebrity divorces, it’s easy to get caught up in the drama and speculation. In the case of Tim Duncan, his divorce from his wife of 12 years, Amy Duncan, was a difficult and emotional journey, as claims of infidelity and Tim Duncan’s sexuality have been questioned.

“Amy treated Tim like a bi**h throughout their marriage because she knew he was f***ing his BFF,” an unknown source has told The Hollywood Street King. “Tim knows Amy was cheating on him, but he’s willing to give her whatever she wants, because he doesn’t want Amy to tell the world that he’s bisexual.”

As one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Tim Duncan’s personal life being thrust into the spotlight was shocking for all to hear. In this article, we’ll delve into the details of Tim Duncan’s divorce journey, exploring the outrageous claims and how it was ultimately settled.

Tim And Amy’s Messy Divorce

Tim Duncan met Amy Sherrill at Wake Forest University when they were both attending the school. Sherrill was a cheerleader, while Duncan, of course, played basketball.

The two began dating, but after Duncan was drafted into the NBA, Sherrill wasn’t sure about staying with Duncan, as she was concerned about dating a professional athlete. Sherrill decided to stay with Duncan, and the two got married in 2001.

So, now, as Amy Duncan, she supported her husband throughout his NBA career. The couple had two children together, Sydney in 2005 and Draven in 2007.

On the outside, things looked to be going great. Duncan was naturally a very private and quiet person, so there was no indication of anything being wrong.

Duncan was winning NBA championships, and his wife was running the Tim Duncan Foundation. But things aren’t always what they appear to be.

In 2013, Amy filed for divorce, citing their marriage had become insupportable due to conflict and discord. Amy filed for divorce in March 2013, right when Duncan’s San Antonio Spurs were gearing up for the NBA Playoffs.

This, reportedly, came as a shock to Duncan, even though he was having suspicions about his wife. Duncan apparently hired a private investigator to follow Amy, as he believed she was cheating on him.

While this was all going on, Amy came out that Duncan himself was a cheater, and what she revealed shocked the entire basketball world. Amy claimed Duncan was bisexual and had a male lover that he was cheating on her with.

She even claimed that Duncan bought his lover a home, and to make things more strange, this man lived with Duncan and his wife for the first two years of their marriage.

Duncan has never spoken about this claim, and there’s no indication the soft-spoken NBA champion ever will.

While Duncan’s now estranged wife was looking to have the divorce occur quickly, Duncan filed to have the proceedings pushed back to July, after the NBA season ended.

When the couple got married, there was a prenuptial agreement signed, and Duncan told a judge that he “owned property that is separate from the marital estate.” This meant the property in question would not be up for grabs by Amy.

There was also, reportedly, a confidentiality agreement Duncan had Amy sign to keep her from disclosing his sexual orientation. Is this true? We don’t know for sure and will likely never find out since Duncan remains extremely private.

The couple was officially divorced in August 2013 after a “secret hearing.”

“I don’t see it as doing a special favor for the sake of the favor,” District Judge David Canales said. “These folks were involved in a very private matter and it was mainly for privacy.”

Yes, Tim Duncan is so private that he even convinced a judge to make their divorce occur in a secret hearing. Not much is known about the final settlement, as it was settled out of court to avoid unnecessary publicity.

This was a crazy story about a private NBA star who always showed great class during his NBA career. At the end of the day, the matter was between Tim and Amy, and it should stay that way and likely will.
