When the Indiana Pacers have up Domantas Sabonis in a trade for Tyrese Haliburton, they believed he would be the future of the franchise. And they have made their belief in him official with the latest contract extension he has received.

The Pacers announced a contract extension worth an unbelievable $260 million over five years for the All-Star. And he initially reacted on Twitter using just two words, in the most epic way possible. Haliburton simply wrote, “Life fire.”

Being promised $260 million is something most of the world’s population cannot even dream about, and there isn’t much to be said when one acquires that type of generational wealth either. Haliburton’s reaction says exactly what it needs to, life can only be described as truly incredible during a moment like that.

That’s not to say that he was only minimalistic in his responses, he went on to tweet some more fun stuff. One was a hilarious video of the ‘Million Dollar Man’ from WWE, Ted DiBiase.

Celebrations are in order and a lot of people surely reached out to Haliburton after to demand that he celebrated with them, but he didn’t forget to be grateful. In his final tweet of the night, the Pacers star gave his thanks to God for what he has been given.

Haliburton earned his contract, he has blossomed into an All-Star with the Pacers. He averaged 20.7 points per game for them last season on incredible efficiency, shooting 49% from the field and 40% from three-point range. His playmaking is another excellent attribute, he managed 10.4 assists per game to go along with his scoring too. And as a 23-year-old, he is bound to improve as this contract goes on.

The Pacers Are Building An Excellent Young Core

With the new CBA kicking in, it’s extremely important to have valuable players on rookie-scale contracts. And the Pacers have two really promising players to grow into a new core alongside Haliburton. Bennedict Mathurin averaged 16.7 points per game as a rookie and has all the makings of a star. And they also acquired Jarace Walker in the 2023 NBA Draft, who is another extremely promising prospect.

They also acquired Bruce Brown on a massive deal and the Pacers will certainly be a problem next year, especially if Haliburton takes another leap and becomes a true NBA superstar. The organization has found ways to contend in the past, and it seems like another window might be opening up soon.
