Victor Wembanyama is the talk of the town after he was expectedly drafted with the No. 1 overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs. big things are expected from the Frenchman when he eventually suits up for his rookie season in the NBA. 

He was asked a lot of questions by the media during his time in the USA for the draft, and one was about a lineup of ‘Monstars’ who are basketball aliens. He named greats like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Shaquille O’Neal. 

When asked if he would include himself, he gave a humble and epic answer, saying, “I haven’t proven anything man.”

Considering that LeBron James himself called Wembanyama an ‘alien’, his humility is really impressive. The French star has his feet on the ground, and even though he likely believes in himself, isn’t saying anything overly arrogant. It would be understandable if he was a little full of himself too, he is the most hyped NBA prospect since the King himself. 

Victor Wembanyama being drafted to the San Antonio Spurs is also seemingly a good fit, given his attitude. Spurs’ culture is about putting the team first and chasing wins, and it seems like his personality will gel well there. And while he’s not getting ahead of himself, he is certainly looking forward to showing the basketball world what he’s made of. 


Victor Wembanyama Has Said He Won’t Be Humbled Or Scared When Going Up Against NBA Stars

For a lot of rookies, facing the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant might seem like a massive deal. But Wembanyama is ready for the big time, and while he respects the stars of this era, he’s not going to be scared to compete against them

“The most important is to not step on the court being too humble,” he said of his mentality for the next professional chapter. “You gotta be humble enough — to be able to respect the game — but if you step on a court too humble and scared, you can’t do anything.”

The anticipation of what he will become is at an all-time high among fans, Wembanyama promises to be something we’ve never seen before. The hope will be that he stays healthy and can perform. It wouldn’t be surprising if he did live up to the hype and become a part of those ‘alien’ conversations by the end of his career.
