The Washington Wizards made a lot of headlines in the run-up to the 2023 NBA Draft. Firstly, they finally parted ways with Bradley Beal, trading him to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Chris Paul and Landry Shamet. They then flipped Chris Paul to the Warriors to land Jordan Poole on Draft Day.

Wizards rookie Bilal Coulibaly was asked which of his future teammates reached out to him after he got drafted. He revealed that Jordan Poole was quick to reach out to him and welcome him to Washington D.C.

“Jordan Poole sent me a text, ‘Welcome to DC, can’t wait to start working and playing with you.'”

Despite being one of the younger stars in the league, Poole has already started taking his role as a leader on the Wizards seriously.

What makes this even more impressive is the fact that both players became Wizards players on the same day. Poole himself is showing signs of being a solid leader, but we will have to wait till the new season to see more.

Jordan Poole Could Become A Star In Washington

Jordan Poole showed flashes of brilliance during his stint in Golden State, especially during the 2021-22 NBA season, where he was essentially the third-best player for the Golden State Warriors as they went on to win the NBA championship. However, things fell apart in the offseason last year, as Poole got punched by Draymond Green.

Green and Poole’s chemistry was broken, and the same could be said for the team. Steve Kerr recently spoke about why they traded Jordan Poole, stating that the team needed to freshen things up. With Chris Paul, the Warriors actually have a solid backcourt, but one that could be considered ‘too old’.

For Jordan Poole, this is his chance to establish himself as a superstar. Jordan Poole averaged 20.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.7 rebounds last season, and his numbers are bound to go up as he will be the first option for the Wizards.
