Victor Oladipo Reportedly Asked Rivals About Teaming Up In From Of Teammates

A lot has been said about Victor Oladipo in the past two months, especially about his future in the league. The combo guard is followed by some teams and even though he has stated he’d like to win in Indiana, he doesn’t discard the possibility of going to a different team in order to win a ring.

Oladipo might have taken things a little too far trying to have chances to play for different squads next season. According to J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star, the 28-year-old didn’t hesitate to ask rival players if he could join them next. The worst part of all is that he did those things in front of his Pacers teammates, which caused some friction between him and the rest of the team in the locker room.

Via TSN:

Sources told Michael that at least on three occasions – against the Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat and New York Knicks – Oladipo asked opposing players, “Can I come play with y’all?” or a similar query.

Dipo is set to become a free agent next season but he could be making moves from now to secure his spot in a new team. He has been linked with the Heat, Knicks, Bucks, Lakers and even Nets, but nothing is certain right now. It’ll be hard to see him returning to Indiana and being welcome there following this report. It’s unclear what he was trying to do with these moves but nobody is happy with them.

“I’m a Pacer. I’m a Pacer,” Oladipo said in September. “Those rumors on the internet, I don’t know where they’re coming from. I’m just focused on getting my knee right for next year.”

He added: “Everybody who knows me knows that I’m all about winning. I feel that that’s what you’re defined as in this game.”

Even Oladipo’s sister and teammate Myles Turner had a little exchange on social media regarding this situation. Some fan accused Turner of leaking this info and he wasn’t having any of that.

This is a complex situation for him, but teams have shown interest in the player. Perhaps he shouldn’t have tried so hard to get the attention of teams during the past season.
