Video Surfaces Of Michael Jordan Winning 1997 Finals MVP, Telling Scottie Pippen “You Are My MVP” And Talking About How Much Pippen Means To Him

Scottie Pippen, through his memoir titled Unguarded, has come at Michael Jordan from all corners. Although he recognizes how great they were as teammates, he maintains that they were never friends.

In the very first chapter of his book, Pippen called MJ selfish, stating that he is taking a lot of the credit for things they achieved as a team. The reaction from Pippen was as a response to the documentary “The Last Dance” which to Pippen, portrayed Jordan as the alpha and omega. For some reason, he failed to acknowledge the parts where Jordan heaped praises on him, saying they should always speak Scottie Pippen whenever they speak Michael Jordan.

With all the slander from Pippen circulating the internet, Essentially Sports first reported fans reaction to a video where MJ presented the Finals MVP award to Pippen saying, “You are my MVP.”

In a chat with the on-ground reporter during the 1997 NBA Finals trophy presentation, Michael had this to say on calling Pippen his MVP:

“Scottie Pippen is… we a tandem. It’s hard to split us up. He means a lot to me when I go out and play on the basketball court. He relieves a lot of the pressure that I have to deal with, I try to do the same for him. It’s hard to take this MVP by myself, he’s gotta take half of it. I take the trophy, he may get the car.”

Scottie Pippen, really has lost his mind.

Here’s MJ accepting the 1997 finals MVP and inviting Scottie to hold it up with him, tells him your my MVP and goes on to talk about how much Scottie means to him and that they should share it. pic.twitter.com/8ud4TYnfzq

Many have questioned Pippen’s motives since he first published and have always been solidly behind MJ. And this footage reveals that they were right to do so.

Fans have wasted no time in attacking Pippen for his comments this far on MJ. There is proof that MJ appreciated Pippen a lot more than what he’s made it out to be for a while now.

Damn Scott. You gotta stop this. You looking bad in these streets fam

My main issue with all this nonsense is people that actually lived through it are still championning Scottie's bullshit 😂. Like honestly, this is one of SEVERAL moments like this. The madness has to stop lol. https://t.co/kXtAJAYfao

Facts are facts

MJ’s HOF speech was like 25 mins of him saying “I told you so” about everyone who he ever met from age 15 to retirement but he started with giving props to Pippen. https://t.co/gfqJXM1CdC

It will be exciting to hear what Pippen will say about this, seeing as he has been in the media a lot these days with active NBA players catching strays. Of course, someone might pose the question, but there is a high chance Pippen will stand his ground given how he disregarded all the good things Jordan had to say about him in The Last Dance.
