Back in 2020, Montrezl Harrell won Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 18.6 points per game on 58% shooting for the Los Angeles Clippers.
He went to the Lakers the very next season, where optimism and excitement were high entering the season.
Sadly, Trez did not play a prominent role for too long and was eventually benched by Frank Vogel when it became clear he just wasn’t a fit for the team.
Now that he’s in Washington, and back to averaging 18 points per game, Trez is taking every opportunity he can to throw some jabs in the direction of his former team.
“I didn’t really get to be utilized how I wanted to be last year. I damn near felt like I had a season off.”
“Finish up packing in LA. Was a fun run,” said Harrell on Instagram last month. “I met some good people and I met people I shouldn’t have ever knew. You live and you learn, though. Next chapter of my story will be one for books!”
His most recent jab was in direct response to an inquiry on why Harrell is playing so much better.
Montrezl Harrell on why he’s playing better this year than he did last season: “Montrezl Harrell is on the floor, brother. That’s the biggest difference.”

Harrell was sent to D.C. as part of the Russell Westbrook trade. Despite some growing pains, it’s doubtful anyone in the Lakers’ front office has any regrets about making that deal.
And while moving from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. might seem like a downgrade, Trez is thriving in his new environment, and so, too, is former Laker Kyle Kuzma.
The Wizards, who only have Bradley Beal as their main star, have been playing exceptionally well so far and currently stand 5th in the East with a 6-3 record.
Their next game is Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
