Fans Roast The City Of Phoenix After Suns And Mercury Lost In NBA Finals And WNBA Finals

The Diana Taurasi-led Phoenix Mercury have recently lost to the Candace Parker-led Chicago Sky in the WNBA playoffs. It is clear that it was a disappointment to Taurasi, who is widely viewed as the GOAT of the WNBA, and it is certainly an unfortunate way to cap off a great run by the Mercury.

The Phoenix Mercury isn’t the only Phoenix-based basketball team that lost in the Finals this year. The Phoenix Suns also lost in the Finals to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games. There were a fair number of people who believed that the Phoenix Suns would win the 2021 NBA championship, though it’s clear that they underestimated Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks.

Twitter user @dadjr84 has recently made a Tweet about both the Phoenix teams losing in the Finals. NBA Fans reacted to the Tweet, with many of them roasting the city of Phoenix itself for blowing both championships.

Damn. Phoenix lost the NBA Finals and the WNBA Finals

One of the Tweets mentions the Arizona Cardinals, who are currently 6-0 in the NFL after beating the Cleveland Browns. Many have them pegged as a team that will be in the Super Bowl, and it would be extremely unfortunate if the “Phoenix curse” continued for them. With that being said, it’s clear that both the Mercury and the Suns losing the Finals in the same year is merely a coincidence.

Another Tweet mentions that the Mercury already has WNBA championships, which is certainly a small consolation for the loss, though another WNBA championship would have certainly been the optimal outcome. The other part of the Tweet laments that the Suns will have to start all over in chasing a championship, and it’s certainly a difficult climb to the Finals, let alone winning a championship.

It remains to be seen how the Phoenix teams will do in the future, and hopefully, the city sees sports success at some point.
