Many fans consider Allen Iverson one of the greatest NBA players to never win an NBA championship. Iverson was a transcendent superstar in the league and one of the most popular players in the history of the league.
Allen Iverson entered the league in 1996 as the 1st overall pick in the Draft. Immediately, Iverson made an impact and established himself as the superstar the Philadelphia 76ers would build their future around. For Iverson, the sky was the limit with the 76ers.
Within 5 years, he had become a consistent All-Star, won a regular-season MVP, and took the 76ers to the NBA Finals. The 76ers won the opening game of the NBA Finals in 2001 against the Lakers, after Iverson hit one of the most iconic shots to seal the win for Philly.
But Iverson and the 76ers would lose the next 4 games, and the series to the Lakers. Iverson’s best chance to win the NBA championship only to lose to the iconic Kobe Bryant – Shaquille O’Neal duo.
Iverson eventually bounced around the league over the next few years, before retiring in 2011. Many fans felt that Iverson should have won a championship in his career, given how talented he was. In fact, ESPN analyst Max Kellerman believes Allen Iverson would’ve been the GOAT over Michael Jordan if he were 6’6.
In the video below (0:59 mark), Allen Iverson was asked about whether he would coach in the NBA, he said that he wouldn’t want to coach any team where there are players who make more money than him.

Unlike most players, Iverson has not transitioned into any kind of role in the NBA, whether it be coaching or an executive role. And Iverson has no plans of becoming a coach.
Iverson has not ventured into coaching at any point since walking away from the game. And from his comments, it appears he has no plans on changing his mind about coaching anytime soon.
