Charles Barkley After Retiring From The NBA: “I’m Just What America Needs, Another Unemployed Black Man.”

2 Min Read

Charles Barkley always made eyebrow-raising jokes during his NBA career. The Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns legend had a curious sense of humor that hasn’t changed to this day.

After he retired from the game, Chuck made a big joke that wouldn’t sit well with people today, mocking his country with a big message. The 1993 NBA MVP delivered this phrase to define his situation after his NBA career ended.

“I’m just what America needs – another unemployed black man.” Chuck said, via 24/7 Sports.

After his career was over, however, Chuck found a new way to express his opinions and bring joy to fans, becoming an analyst and thriving at his new job.

This was common for Barkley back in the day. The big man was and still is really funny, enchanting fans with his comments on TNT’s Inside the NBA, roasting the rest of his teammates, Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith.

Chuck is a character, and there’s no better way to sum up how fun he is than with this quote. He’s engaged in battles with LeBron James, Draymond Green, Kevin Durant, and more due to his personality.

That won’t change anytime soon, and truth be told, NBA fans won’t get tired of listening to Chuck’s hilarious comments shortly.
