Russell Westbrook is one of the most polarizing players in NBA history. While his talent and impact are both undeniable, his erratic decision-making and -lack of- shooting have cost him multiple times in the playoffs.
A lot of people question whether Westbrook was the right guy for the Los Angeles Lakers roster. He’s ball-dominant and a non-shooter, so he’s not exactly an ideal fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
That’s why bonafide LeBron James hater Skip Bayless went on to elaborate just why they’re not going to be able to mesh next season, predicting that James will just give up on Westbrook eventually:
“Le Shannon Sharpe told me the Lakers are better than last year. Are you sure Schroder wasn’t a better fit than Russell Westbrook? You’ve been seeing for over 13 years of Russell Westbrook. You knew what he is what he is not. Now he is LeBron’s,” Skip started.
“If anybody can make this work, I believe LeBron could.” Then he reverted to his usual view, saying – “But in the end, even LeBron will throw up his hands and say I’m sorry this is a disaster, this was a mistake. That’s what will happen ultimately. Russell Westbrook is a solo act. And all of a sudden when you put him with LeBron James the ultimate distributor, it’s fire and water. It does not blend; it does not work. In the end, he’s going to become the ultimate scapegoat. KD tried for 8 seasons, Harden wanted out after 1. James will too, soon enough” Bayless concluded.

While Bayless isn’t exactly objective or sound when it comes to LeBron, he may be on to something here.
Then again, Westbrook and James both know what it’s like to play next to other stars, so they could be able to put their egos aside and find a way to coexist on the court.
