NBA Rumors: Golden State Warriors Could Land Karl-Anthony Towns If He Requests A Trade From The Minnesota Timberwolves

Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best big men in the game. He may be one of the most versatile offensive weapons in the league, due to his prowess from behind the arc. Over his career, Towns has shot 39.4% from 3PT range, which is a spectacular mark for a big man.

While Towns has had some spectacular individual seasons, he has only made it to the playoffs once during his time with the Timberwolves. There is no doubt that Towns desires to win on the biggest stage as he has previously stated that his biggest goal for the rest of his career is winning championships. The Minnesota Timberwolves missed the playoffs once again last season.

We have seen stars request trades from franchises due to the lack of success before. If a trade request were to come from Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach Lowe of ESPN suggested that the Warriors “should have eyes” on the young center. J. B. Baruelo of the Inquisitr relayed Lowe’s words.

Though they are currently buried deep in the luxury tax hell, the Warriors have a plethora of precious trade assets that they could use to engage in a blockbuster deal this summer. One of the most intriguing trade targets for the Warriors is All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves haven’t given any indication that they are planning to move Towns, but Zach Lowe of ESPN believes that the Warriors “should have eyes” on KAT in case he requests a trade from Minnesota.

It is easy to see how Karl-Anthony would fit next to the Golden State Warriors core. Towns’ shooting would be a seamless fit with the Warriors system, and he’d also give them a boost in the rebounding category, something that the Warriors have missed this season.

While we don’t know the specifics of any potential trade package yet, assuming the Golden State Warriors want to keep their dynasty core together, it would be Andrew Wiggins being sent out for salary purposes, and a combination of picks and young players such as James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga.

Karl-Anthony Towns hasn’t asked out yet, and there isn’t a guarantee that he will in the future. However, it seems as though the Golden State Warriors should be on the lookout if Towns ever wants to leave Minnesota.
