Two days of free agency are already on the books, and even though it’s still way too early to tell how the moves some teams have fared, it’s safe to say that some teams haven’t lived up to the expectations thus far.

One of those teams is the New Orleans Pelicans. Not only did they lose Lonzo Ball and couldn’t sign Kyle Lowry but also, they gave away three picks (1 first-rounder and 2 second-rounders) and didn’t get much better.

That’s why ESPN’s Zach Lowe deemed them one of the biggest losers of free agency and didn’t predict a good future for the organization, especially with Zion Williamson allegedly unhappy with the direction their going:

“Pelicans have to be one of the big losers in FA. Gave up 2 picks to not get Lowry. Traded a 1st round pick + Lonzo for Graham, Satoransky, and Temple. To give up 3 picks and lose the best player in Lonzo… boy oh boy… it’s hard to look at this series of events and feel good about NOLA,” Lowe said on his podcast.

As of now, it doesn’t seem like David Griffin and the Pelicans have a defined course of action. The roster got worst this season after not even making the playoffs last year, and Zion could get angsty.

The Pelicans already know what it’s like to lose their franchise player after trading away both Chris Paul and Anthony Davis earlier in the past. Nonetheless, it seems like they haven’t learned… anything from those situations.

Hopefully, they’ll be able to make some good moves via trade and improve their roster, as losing another potential superstar would pretty much doom them to another decade of mediocrity.
