There are certain players in the NBA who can simply take the ball and create something out of nothing. We’ve seen superstars who have been able to carry teams with lesser talent than the opposition simply by upping their own usage rate and taking over.
The new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, Jason Kidd, seems to realize that Luka Doncic is one of those players. The Dallas Mavericks have recently posted a hilarious photo of Jason Kidd, featuring a clipboard with his supposed gameplan, which reads “Give It To Luka”. Giving the ball to Luka Doncic seems pretty straight forward. While it is clearly a joke, any coach would likely love to give Luka Doncic the ball and let him go to work.
There is no doubt that the Dallas Mavericks needed to change some things within the organization after two years of being eliminated in the first round. Both GM Donnie Nelson and coach Rick Carlisle left the organization, and it seems as though there is a new era. What won’t change, is the fact that competing with Luka Doncic is the goal, and him having the ball in his hands will always be crucial.
