Anthony Davis On LeBron James: “He’s Always Happy. I’ve Never Seen LeBron Mad — He’s Always Happy.”

Anthony Davis knows full well about how difficult the life of a superstar is. The inevitability of a media following when you’re famous can leave no room for personal life, and there can be endless criticism over a player’s basketball ability when they aren’t able to win it all for a franchise.

In a recent article by Colin Ward-Henninger of CBS Sports, Anthony Davis revealed that an important thing that he learned while playing basketball is the need for joy in everything one does, and that balance between basketball and life is important. Davis also revealed that one of the best people at balancing is LeBron James. NBA Central also tweeted about Davis’ words.

Anthony Davis claims he’s ‘never’ seen LeBron James angry since joining Lakers

“I’ll tell you one thing that I learned from being in this field of work is that life is about balance. You have to balance,” Davis told CBS Sports. “For me, when I’m at work, I’m locked in. When I’m on the court at practice or a game or whatever, this is my time — two, three hours of dedicating myself to the craft. … But when I’m not playing, I’m enjoying my life.

Davis says that one player who embodies a healthy work-life balance is teammate LeBron James. Despite James’ endless list of accomplishments on the court, he’s a dedicated father and husband, while contributing time, money and effort to initiatives like his I Promise School in Akron, Ohio and the More Than a Vote organization dedicated toward inspiring Black Americans to register and make their voices heard at the polls.

“He’s always happy. I’ve never seen LeBron mad — he’s always happy,” Davis told CBS Sports. “But on the flipside, he’s so determined and hard-working for basketball. So it’s a balance, and you’ve got to find a balance.”

LeBron James is someone who enjoys his off-court life despite all the pressure that comes on the court. It is refreshing to see Anthony Davis take a realistic approach to the game: while basketball is an NBA player’s job, it is important to make time for your own personal life, just like in any other career. It makes sense for LeBron James to be determined and hard-working for basketball, but it’s good to see him have happiness as a person in general. James seems calm and collected on the court during most times, so it makes sense that that demeanor would translate to off the court interactions.

LeBron James is one of the best and most influential athletes in the world: despite his responsibilities that come with the role, LeBron James is consistently happy. That shows his ability to find joy in his personal life while still staying locked in on basketball. To do as many things as LeBron James does on the regular is impressive, and it is even more impressive that he manages to balance everything as well as he does.
