Muggsy Bogues Reveals If Michael Jordan Called Him A ‘Mid***’ And Really Ended His Career

2 Min Read

Muggsy Bogues is famous for being the shortest NBA player to ever play, standing at 5’3. Despite his height, he still found ways to succeed. Bogues was known for his ability to pass the basketball and for his prowess at getting steals from unsuspecting taller players. Bogues hit double digits in APG twice in his career and was a big part of the Charlotte Hornets in the 90s.

There was a famous rumor that Michael Jordan insulted Muggsy Bogues about his height during a playoffs game in 1995, which caused his decline. This is the alleged moment that the trash talk happened.

Muggsy Bogues has recently talked about those rumors and has claimed that they have been debunked many times. Bogues is an NBA player who was probably used to trash talk: it’s hard to imagine him quitting after one insult, even if it’s from Michael Jordan.

Something about “Shoot it mid***”?… That thing been debunked so many times. I didn’t even know it was still floating on the internet. I mean, to ruin my career? I played 7 more year afterwards in my career… and just a word, mid*** gonna get to me? I mean that’s just ridiculous. That doesn’t even make sense to me.

It seems as though the truth about this rumor has been brought to light. Bogues has quashed any notion that the rumors are true: it probably started as an urban legend, like many internet rumors. There are many stories of Michael Jordan’s trash talk: this doesn’t seem to be one of them. The knee injury that Bogues talks about in the video probably had more to do with his decline as a small guard.
