NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant Wanted The Nets To Land James Harden A Couple Of Months Ago

2 Min Read

Kevin Durant and James Harden are reunited in Brooklyn after 9 years. The shooting guard was the first player of the 2012 Oklahoma City Thunder Big 3 to leave the squad in a trade to the Houston Rockets. Harden blossomed into one of the best players in the league in H-Town until he decided to call it quits with the franchise.

Now he’s part of the Nets, where he will share touches with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving when the latter returns to action. Still, the most benefited player from this move was KD, who reportedly wanted the Nets to make this move for a couple of months now. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Durant was keen to see Harden wearing the Nets uniform since a couple of months ago.

“This was something Kevin Durant very much wanted,” Wojnarowski said on “The Woj Pod” (h/t RealGM). “He and Harden started talking about this months ago.”

This was a recurrent topic before the start of the season, with some reports suggesting the Beard wanted to join the Nets or the Philadelphia 76ers from the Rockets. After Harden lost his cool with his teammates, the Rockets finally started looking for trade partners and they sent Harden to Brooklyn in a 4-team trade.

Now Durant has a new star teammate to lead his team to the championship, especially now that Kyrie Irving is gone and nobody knows when he will return. A lot has been said about these two and how they will play together in Brooklyn but that’s something we’ll learn when they step foot on the court with the Nets for the first time.
