During the offseason, one of the big moves that Philadelphia has made is hiring coach Doc Rivers after the firing of their former coach, Brett Brown. Brett Brown’s notable achievement was taking the Toronto Raptors to seven games in the second round, during the Raptors’ 2018-19 championship run. However, Brown was unceremoniously fired after being swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round during the 2019-20 playoffs.
Doc Rivers is a championship-caliber coach, and most people in the league recognize that. Rivers was a solid change to the 76ers organization: at some point, you can’t keep the same coaching over and over, and expect something different. The 76ers saw that and made the coaching change. The 76ers are currently 6-1, and have the best record in the league. Kendrick Perkins had something to say after the 76ers’ hot start.

Kendrick Perkins has first-hand experience with Doc Rivers’ coaching, as he was a part of the championship-winning 2008 Boston Celtics team. Perkins knows how good of a coach he is: definitely better than someone who gets swept in the first round. Many players around the league enjoy Rivers’ coaching, and he has respect all over. The 76ers also brought in Daryl Morey for their front office, signaling a changing of eras for the 76ers franchise.
Philadelphia finally has all the pieces it needs to win a championship: two superstars, loads of shooters, and a coach who has proven to be able to win. While they may not win it all this year, the expectations will be high, and hopefully, the 76ers rise up for the occasion.
