NBA Rumors: James Harden For Paul George Could Be The Perfect Trade For The Rockets And Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers cannot fail this upcoming season. After they traded the farm away to build a roster around Kawhi Leonard, they fell spectacularly short of a championship. A big factor in that was Paul George, as he underperformed during their cataclysmic collapse. While he could still turn it around, there’s a chance that the Clippers pull off a blockbuster trade to pair Kawhi Leonard with another superstar.

James Harden could be traded by the Houston Rockets. If that happens, there is a chance that they would want a star like Paul George in return. The Rockets don’t seem to have any intention of tanking, so a trade package around Paul George seems very reasonable. Surely the Rockets see value in contending on top of getting a good return for their superstar.

Los Angeles Clippers Receive: James Harden

Houston Rockets Receive: Paul George, Patrick Beverley, Mfiondu Kabengele

The New Rockets Are Ready To Prove Their Worth

The Rockets have assembled a team of players full of unknowns, willing to risk the potential pitfalls of acquiring players coming off an injury. John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins are low-risk signings that could pay off immensely. At their peak, both were elite All-Stars who were some of the best players in the league. Paul George would fit right in with this band of misfits: this offseason, he has been mocked, ridiculed, and lambasted by haters for his playoff performance. On the Rockets, he could get the fresh start that he needs outside of a huge media market like Los Angeles.

Patrick Beverley would be a player who would play hard defense and space the floor. Mfiondu Kabengele would be a throw-in, someone the Clippers could develop for the future. It is easy to envision the Rockets getting a lineup full of players with something to prove: some of those underdog-type teams have won championships out of nowhere.

If a few years ago you told Rockets fans that John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, and Paul George could be on their team, they’d be ecstatic. All three of those players have a chip on their shoulder and should come out guns blazing during the start of the season. The Rockets could ride that wave until the playoffs, and there is a possibility that this potential roster could be truly special.

The Los Angeles Clippers Get An Unstoppable Duo

James Harden and Kawhi Leonard on the same team sounds too good to be true. With this trade, it could become a reality. This trade would give Kawhi Leonard a co-star that is truly an MVP caliber player. Most people would agree that James Harden is better than Paul George, and an upgrade in the co-star category could lead to a championship for the Clippers. If Harden were to get traded to the Clippers, he would have another superstar on his team who’s already won a championship. With this trade, Kawhi Leonard could help James Harden get back to the Finals.

This potential trade puts two of the best superstars in the league on the same team. James Harden and Kawhi Leonard would have amazing isolation ability between the two of them, something that matters come clutch time. This trade will give Leonard better chances to win in the Western Conference while letting Harden be able to take a break from carrying a team scoring-wise. This trade would let the Clippers rival the Lakers: that’s a series everyone wants to see this year.

The Clippers need to do something to their roster: their second-round exit is a catalyst for their front office to switch things around. Trading for James Harden would let all parties involved get a fresh start, and perhaps a more fitting franchise for their goals. James Harden could compete for a ring, while Paul George could be on a team with some like-minded players that could rebuild his confidence.
