The Golden State Warriors are going to be in the spotlight next season more than ever. A lot of people believe that the dynasty has come to an end and some even think that Steve Kerr could be exposed as a coach if they don’t take a step forward next season.
Klay Thompson’s loss is a massive blow for the Dubs but they still have plenty of depth and talent to make a huge splash in the Western Conference without him, especially if Stephen Curry goes back to his MVP level from 2015 and 2016.
The Warriors will play with a chip on their shoulder from start to finish and they have plenty of weapons to thrive and silence their doubters. That’s why today, we’re going to let you know just how their starting lineup is going to look like in 2020-21.
Bench: Brad Wanamaker, Mychal Mulder, Nico Mannion, Yam Madar, Jordan Poole, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Justinian Jessup, Damion Lee, Kent Bazemore, Dwayne Sutton, Axel Toupane, Eric Paschall, Marquese Chriss, Kevon Looney, Alen Smailagic
Point Guard: Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry is the kind of player who just doesn’t need an introduction as his resumé speaks for itself. He’s the greatest shooter of all time and the building block of one of the most feared and dominant squads in the history of basketball.
Even so, there are still some people who doubt his skills as a leader and say he’s overrated. That’s why he’ll be under more pressure now than ever with Klay Thompson out of the year with an injury, but we’re pretty confident in his ability to deliver.
Shooting Guard: Andrew Wiggins
It’s pretty safe to say that Andrew Wiggins’ career hasn’t panned out the way everybody thought it’d be. He’s far from the player we thought he’d become when he was taken with the first overall pick of the Draft, but he could still turn out to be pretty solid.
Wiggins is an athletic freak. He just needs to improve his shot-selection to be a more efficient scorer. The defensive upside is there as well, but the motivation tends to go on and off. Now that he’s on a winning organization, we might as well witness his best version yet.
Small Forward: Kelly Oubre Jr
Kelly Oubre Jr is one of the most underrated wings in the league right now. He proved it once he took over as the Phoenix Suns’ starting small forward, making plays, getting stops, posterizing people, and knocking down big shots from beyond the arc.
It goes without saying that Kelly Oubre Jr is no Kevin Durant. Then again, he can still be a huge pickup for the Warriors and their system. He could turn out to be their second scorer throughout the season and his defense is better than people credit him for.
Power Forward: Draymond Green
Draymond Green’s reputation took a massive dip last year. His haters claim that he’s overrated and just a system player, and his starts from last season didn’t help his case. To be fair, he was banged up and played with a subpar supporting cast.
Nonetheless, now that they’re almost back at full strength, there’s no more room or time for excuses anymore. Green has to step up as a leader again and not just the talking but also with his game. We know that he’s the most versatile defender in the league.
Center: James Wiseman
The Golden State Warriors took a bit of a gamble with James Wiseman. Wiseman was the consensus best player of his class before being suspended by the NCAA and dropping out from the University of Memphis raised questions about his game due to the lack of footage.
Wiseman has the upside to become one of the best rim protectors in the league. He’s a gifted athlete with a strong upper body and has the length and skills to dominate on both ends of the floor, even if his game is kind of out of date for today’s NBA.
