The Los Angeles Lakers picked up a convincing 113-100 win over the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center, improving their season record to 15-12 while the Kings fall further below .500 with a 13-15 record.
Austin Reaves led the team in scoring with 25 points (7-14 FG) along with five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Anthony Davis had a 20-20 game with 21 points (7-20 FG) and 20 rebounds, along with three steals and six blocks in a monstrous performance. LeBron James made NBA history tonight and dropped 19 points (8-21 FG), six rebounds, and seven assists in the win.
Fans were celebrating this strong win.
“Get that AD vs. Sabonis talk up outta here,” said a fan who believes Davis has finally proven he can beat Sabonis convincingly.
“We actually won… What a win. Austin deserves game ball, Anthony Davis was a defensive monster today, and LeBron came thru in the 4th. JJ has us playing drop and it works. Max Christie and Gabe Vincent were so solid today,” said one fan impressed by what all the players did.
“The Lakers won in a game LeBron reached a milestone,” a fan remarked as James made NBA history and also won the game where he achieved it.
“When LeBron is engaged like this on defense, he is simply one of the best in the NBA at it. Can’t be asking a 40-year-old to play like this and his teammates don’t follow his lead, you MUST match his intensity,” said one fan impressed with James’ defensive performance tonight.
“LeBron James will always be HIM. That chase-down block then layup on the other end …. I love this man,” said another fan amazed at LeBron’s performance.
“Max’s defense has been absurd. The Lakers never had a guard that could contain Fox…until now. Max is an Elite defender. Right now,” said one fan lauding Max Christie.
De’Aaron Fox led the Kings in scoring with 26 points (7-17 FG) and was the only player to crack 20 points on this roster designed to outscore virtually every opponent in the NBA. Domantas Sabonis had a near triple-double with 18 points (8-13 FG), 12 rebounds, and nine assists, while Malik Monk put up 17 points (7-15 FG) against his former team. DeMar DeRozan had a disappointing 10 points (4-13 FG).
The Lakers needed tonight’s win, as standings rivals like the Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, and Minnesota Timberwolves all lost their games. They jumped three spots with this win and are currently the No. 7 seed, tied with the Nuggets who have a better winning percentage as they’ve played two fewer games.
They have to remember the formula and adjust it as needed for their next game, as they rematch with the Kings on Saturday night.
They’ll make the necessary adjustments to challenge the Lakers, but it seems like JJ Redick has gotten the team to improve on both ends of the court after a rough stretch of games earlier this month, as indicated by their last win over the Memphis Grizzlies, who beat the Warriors by 51 points tonight.
