LaVar Ball Says He Doesn’t Want LaMelo Ball With The Lakers: “I Already Had A Son In LA, With A Raggedy A** Coach.”

In an exclusive interview on “The Pascal Show,” LaVar Ball spoke on the future of his son, LaMelo, who is scheduled to be drafted into the NBA this offseason.

Surprisingly, the “Big Baller” father said he doesn’t want his son playing in LA, citing that it just wouldn’t be the right move.

“The makeup that they have right now, that’s not good for him. When they finished with the AD and LeBron era and all that — cause check this out: I already had a son in LA, with a raggedy a** coach. So it don’t matter where you go, the key is to have the right coach behind you.”

According to LaVar, the Pistons and Knicks are much better destinations for Melo.

It is unclear whether Mr. Ball chose those teams due to their coaches (Tom Thibedeau in New York, Dwane Casey in Detroit) or simply because they are relatively well-known brands with a great need for a point guard.

Whatever the case, he’s dead set on not seeing another son head to LA.

In the case of Lonzo, he spent two seasons with the Lakers, averaging just 10 points, 6.4 assists, and 6.2 rebounds on 38% shooting. His minutes and numbers took a noticeable dip in his second year, proving he became less of a priority with the arrival of LeBron James.

In the past, LaVar has been highly critical of his son’s former Lakers coach, Luke Walton as well as LaMelo’s former coach in Chino Hills High School.

Wherever Melo goes, you can bet there will be questions about the impact his father might bring.

Such is the way with the Ball Brothers, it seems.
