Anthony Davis Accidentally Reveals His Free Agency Plans In The Lakers Locker Room

Anthony Davis is at the top of the world right now after winning his first NBA championship during his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers. The big man landed in SoCal with huge expectations after spending the first years of his career in New Orleans, unable to have a deep playoffs run. Well, all of that changed in Los Angeles and AD is now an NBA champion after creating a huge association with LeBron James.

His future appeared to be in the air at some points during the season, with reports suggesting he would play for the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, or even New York Knicks. Davis declined a four-year contract extension offered by the Lakers early this year, so he could hit free agency. That set the alarms for the purple and gold, who started suspecting they could lose their new star after just one season.

Following Game 6 of the Finals, AD talked about his future, stating that he didn’t know what to do from now on, as he was still figuring things out.

“I have no idea. I don’t know. … I had a great time in L.A. this first year,” he told reporters, according to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk. “This has been nothing but joy, nothing but amazement.

“Over the next couple of months, we’ll figure it out. I mean, I’m not 100 percent sure, but that’s why my agent (Rich Paul) is who he is, and we’ll discuss it and figure it out.”

It didn’t take too long for the Brow to reveal his plans, though. During a Quinn Cook Instagram Live, Davis sent a short but strong message to the Lakers fans to make them dream on back-to-back titles and a potential dynasty.

“We’re gonna run it right back,” AD said.

The Lakers dominated this season from the beginning to the end after some people didn’t even see them as a top-4 team in the West. They are now the team to beat in the league and seeing how focused AD is in trying to bring another title to the Staples Center, the rest of the league will have a difficult time trying to dethrone them.

The 27-year-old knows the challenge will be bigger now, but he’s focused on getting better and try to repeat this feat.

“This just puts a bigger target on your back, honestly. Teams are going to come after you next year, especially when you’re one of the top players,” Davis said, via Anthony Kennedy of Basketball News. “Guys want to take out the champion. The next four or five years, [I] have to get better and better. I have to keep improving my game and, hopefully, I can have this feeling again.”

As for now, Lakers Nation should rest peacefully knowing that AD isn’t planning to leave anytime soon.
