Kevin Durant Blasts Media For His Spat With Draymond Green: “They Needed Some Drama Around Our Team.”

Back in 2018, when everything looked perfect for the back-to-back defending champions Golden State Warriors, two of their best players got into a heated exchange that almost became physical. During a game against the Los Angeles Clippers in November 2018, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green got into it during after the end of regulation, with the game tied 106-106.

Things went wrong for the Dubs when Durant and Green had different opinions about what to do in the last seconds of the game. While KD wanted to keep the ball more time, Draymond wanted to keep it moving. Things got out of control and when they both arrived at the bench, it was worse. DeMarcus Cousins had to separate Green from KD while the power forward appeared to tell KD he was a ‘b*tch.’

Everybody believes that was the turning point of KD’s relationship with the Warriors, but the 2x NBA champion has revealed that the spat made him closer to Draymond, contrary to what everybody believes.

In a recent appearance on ‘The Old Man and the Three’ podcast, Durant talked about that incident with JJ Redick, blaming the media for overblowing the situation and explaining that helped his relationship with Green instead of hurting it.

“With so many people just wanting to see — it felt like we were so perfect — they want to see something. They needed some drama around our team. That was their entry point,” Durant said.

“Me and Draymond, we got better after that actually,” KD mentioned (via NBC Sports). “I felt like I was more locked into the team after that. I felt like he understood me more because we sat down and talked about that whole situation.”

After that incident, things weren’t the same for the Warriors. A lot of rumors surfaced about their future and what KD was going to do in free agency. In the end, he decided to go to the East coast to play with the Brooklyn Nets after three years with the Dubs, three trips to the Finals and two titles.
