The Los Angeles Clippers Have Finished As The #2 Seed For The First Time In Franchise History

The Los Angeles Clippers earned a big win over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night to secure the #2 seed in the Western Conference against a direct rival. Paul George scored 27 points and Kawhi Leonard added 26 in the 124-111 victory that meant the Clips will finish the season as the no. 2 seed in the West for the first time in history.

With this result, the Clippers clinched that second seed in the West and now will face the dangerous Dallas Mavericks of Luka Doncic in the first round of the playoffs. These two teams clashed in the bubble and the game was very entertaining.

The L.A. Clippers are going to finish as the No. 2 seed for the first time in franchise history. They will play the No. 7 Dallas Mavericks in the first round next week.

The Clippers have done something that not even the Lob City version of the team was able to do. They did have good runs and impressive regular season campaigns, but nothing close to this. Before this season started, the expectations were high for them and they’re at least matching them now.

In 2012-2013 they had 56 wins, which only served for a fifth-best record in the west that season. The next season they had 57 wins, but the San Antonio Spurs (62 wins) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (59 wins) relegated them to the third place. In 2014-2015, the Clippers and Rockets had the second-best record in the west at 56 wins, but Houston had the advantage over Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and co.

Now things have changed. After a very moved offseason, the Clips landed Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to lead their project. The pair has been just fine together and the Clippers are the biggest favorite to win the championship due to Kawhi’s pedigree in the postseason and the depth of their roster.

They have never made it to the Western Conference Finals. That is something they could be doing in the bubble this season.
