Paul Pierce: ‘I Truly Believe The Warriors Can Win A Title Within The Next Three Years’

3 Min Read

Paul Pierce is convinced that the Golden State Warriors aren’t done being one of the best teams in the league. The Boston Celtics icon has been famous for his curious predictions, but this time he might have a valid point. The Warriors went to five consecutive NBA Finals, winning three titles; last year, they were trying to three-peat, but the Toronto Raptors had other plans.

Some people believe that was the end for Golden State, especially after Kevin Durant’s departure to the Brooklyn Nets, Klay Thompson picking up an injury during the Finals as well as other big names leaving the team. This season was a nightmare for them, who saw how Stephen Curry also went down with an injury at the beginning of the season. Pierce, however, believes everything will fall into place for the Dubs to return to the top of the league.

“I really, truly believe they can win a title within the next three years,” Pierce said on ESPN’s The Jump, via NBC Sports. “Even though we didn’t see (Steph) Curry (or) Klay (Thompson) this year. But you gotta admit — this is probably the best backcourt in all of basketball still.

“If they make the right moves … they’re gonna get a nice draft pick that they can probably parlay into a good player, (or maybe) a very good player. All the infrastructure is in place for them to really build a championship team within the next three years.”

They have very ambitious plans to assemble a competitive team once again. Obviously, having their core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will be very important for them. After that, we have to wait and see how they’ll manage their draft pick. Rumors also suggest they have placed their attention on Giannis Antetokounmpo, so making room for the Greek Freak will be a hard job to carry out.

Still, they count with a good group of young players. Perhaps in three years, led by their original Big 3, the Warriors could be winning the NBA title once again.
