Former NFL Star Calls Out LeBron James For Lying After Donovan Mitchell Says He Sees 3 Rims

Ryan Clark says LeBron James was lying about seeing three rims after Donovan Mitchell brought up that viral moment.

Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell revealed during an appearance on The Pivot Podcast that he can’t really see without glasses, but still refuses to wear contacts during games. Mitchell said he sees multiple rims the way LeBron James once claimed he did, which led to co-host Ryan Clark calling out the Los Angeles Lakers star.

Donovan Mitchell: “I wear no contacts. It’s crazy because I can see everything perfectly with the contacts in but I just can’t hit anything. As soon as I take them out, ‘Alright, bet, we good.’ … Just because my muscle memory for so many years has been without glasses, without being able to see. So, I tell everybody, I’m like Bron. I’m just shooting at three rims and trying to figure it out.”

Ryan Clark: “Bron was lying… The other night he had some dream he was playing for Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski). He was lying then too.”

(starts at 0:17 mark):

That was quite ruthless from Clark. James made that “three rims” comment after hitting an incredible game-winner against the Golden State Warriors in a Play-In game in 2021. Draymond Green had poked him in the eye in the fourth quarter and the Lakers star claimed he wasn’t able to see clearly afterward.

“After Draymond’s finger to the eye, I was literally seeing three rims out there,” James said. “So I just shot at the middle one. And I was able to, through the grace of the man above, I was able to knock it down.”

While this incident occurred years ago, the second one Clark was referring to was a lot more recent. Back in November, James revealed he had a wild dream where he was playing for Duke and Coach K.

“Just woke up from having a dream I was playing for Duke for Coach K inside Cameron Indoor Stadium! It was INSANE in there. Told Coach K it was an honor to suit up for him and he said the same thing back to me. He’s such a LEGEND! Then…..

“It turned right into a concert. Snoop and Dre were the performers and they was doing the song ‘The Next Episode’. The roof inside Cameron damn near came off! Haha. Then my (alarm) went off and I woke up.”

Clark isn’t buying it that James had this dream and I think it’s safe to say he is part of the group that believes the Lakers star likes to lie fairly often. LeBron recently took a shot at that group as he called out those who accuse him of lying all the time.

At the end of the day, only James knows if he is speaking the truth or not and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt in both of the instances that Clark referred to. Your vision can get quite blurry after being poked in the eye and I have had my fair share of crazy dreams too.

While James is clearly bothered by all the lying accusations, he is currently more worried about his play. The 39-year-old only had 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists on Monday night as the Lakers lost 109-80 to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center.

James has looked like a shell of his former self in his recent outings but I wouldn’t write him off just yet. The Lakers take on the Miami Heat next at Kaseya Center on Wednesday at 7:30 PM ET and I wouldn’t bet against the 20-time All-Star putting on a clinic in that contest.
