Shaq O’Neal Says A Couple NBA Teams Are For Sale And One Might Be Going To Vegas

There’s been a lot of speculation regarding the future of the NBA. As of today, there’s no clear path or date as to when the season is going to be resumed or even if it’s going to be canceled.

However, we all know there are few businesses as profitable as the NBA. Every wealthy man on earth would kill to have the chance of buying a franchise and entering the sports industry like Steve Ballmer most recently did with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Well, luckily for them, it seems like a couple of teams may be up for grabs in the foreseeable future, as Shaquille O’Neal recently sad in ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’:

“I hear in the grapevine that there are a couple of teams for sale and one may be going to Vegas,” the Big Diesel told Frank Caliendo.

Shaq and Caliendo addressed the possibility of expansion similar to what the NHL did with the Golden Knights. Also, the Oakland Raiders are soon to debut in Las Vegas next season, so there’s definitely some traction to take sports to Nevada despite the clear conflict of interests with casinos and gambling.

The NBA expansion has been a controversial matter the league doesn’t seem to be willing to address any time soon. Kentucky, Seattle, and Las Vegas have pushed long enough to have an NBA franchise.

According to Shaq, Seattle is still a possibility but they’d need to buy an existent franchise, which seems unlikely. Also, he even said that there are rumors going on about an expansion overseas to China or Japan, with teams taking three days off before playing those teams in the road.

Needless to say, it doesn’t seem like this will happen overnight as there’s obviously a lot of things to discuss there. But if the NBA, in fact, decides to expand, there are going to be ownership groups and billionaires lining up to try and join the party, for sure.
