NBA Executive Say The Warriors With Curry And Klay Aren’t Better Than The Lakers And The Clippers

After making their fifth straight trip to the NBA Finals last summer, the Golden State Warriors fell off the wagon hard.

The departure of Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala coupled with injuries to Steph and Klay resulted in a team during the 2019-20 campaign that was a shell of their former selves.

But there is a lot of optimism about what’s to come for the Warriors. Both Curry and Klay are set to return next season and for some, that alone is enough to consider them title contenders. NBA executives, however, were not so quick to agree. In an article by Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report, execs expressed major hesitation about Golden State’s potential next season.

“They’re not (going to be) as good as the Lakers or the Clippers the next few years,” said the executive.

“I don’t think it’s realistic [that they’ll be title contenders], but they’ll still be one of the top teams in the West,” the Eastern Conference GM said.

The Western Conference is no joke. With LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, and Paul George, the path to the Finals won’t be easy and as it stands, the Warriors may not be equipped to handle it.

Then again, we’ve seen what the Splash Bros can do. They’ve got experience, chemistry, and a skill set that makes them the best at what they do. Assuming they keep Draymond, their core pieces from their dynasty will still be intact. It’s probably not wise to count them out completely.

As for when, specifically, we might see the duo take the court again, nobody really knows. Amid the pandemic, the 2020-21 campaign is in serious danger of being pushed back.

Needless to say, it’ll be a whole before we see the infamous Warriors duo again.
