Zhuri James was in attendance for her brother Bronny James’ G League debut on Saturday and at one point during the night, made the ill-fated decision to hug him. Zhuri instantly regretted doing that as Bronny was covered in sweat and her reaction to realizing that went viral.
That was hilarious and their father LeBron James also reacted to this incident on Instagram.

It’s safe to say, Zhuri is going to think twice before hugging Bronny for a while now. The nine-year-old was absolutely disgusted after this interaction.
Zhuri was accompanied by LeBron, her mother Savannah, and grandmother Gloria to this game at UCLA Health Training Center. They witnessed Bronny’s South Bay Lakers beat the Salt Lake City Stars 110-96 to start the G League season on a winning note. The 20-year-old put in a solid all-around performance on debut, finishing with six points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.
The only member of the James family not to be at this game was Bronny’s younger brother Bryce James and there was good reason for that. Bryce was at his high school Sierra Canyon’s annual tip-off event on Saturday and appeared to be having a blast there.
While Bronny and Bryce have followed in LeBron’s footsteps by pursuing a basketball career, Zhuri appears to be headed on a different route. She plays volleyball and LeBron revealed during media day that the nine-year-old had tried out in the under-12 category recently. With all the talk about her brothers, Zhuri might end up being the most successful athlete among LeBron’s children.
Zach Guthrie Was Impressed By Bronny James’ Performance
Bronny didn’t put up eye-popping numbers on his G League debut, but it was a solid showing nonetheless and Zach Guthrie was impressed by what he saw. The South Bay Lakers head coach praised James after the game.
“I think he did a great job dictating on the ball,” Guthrie said. “He got the first bucket of the game. I drew up the first play for him, but we didn’t get to run it because they won the tip. So, we gotta get (Christian Koloko) to win the tip next time
“But I thought, he got the first bucket, he played great, he played unselfishly, he played within the flow of the game,” Guthrie continued. “And I thought, like all our guards, we defended at a high level. We talked about dictating. They weren’t comfortable in their offense… I thought everyone did a great job of executing.”
Bronny and the Lakers played some great defense, as they limited the Salt Lake City Stars to just 38.4% shooting from the field. They led by almost 30 points at one stage and it was about as comfortable as a win as you can hope for in a season opener.
The South Bay Lakers, who are now 1-0, will take on the Santa Cruz Warriors next on Nov. 15 at Kaiser Permanente Arena. Bronny might not be playing in that game, though, as the plan is reportedly for him to feature only in home games.
