Kyrie Irving has been an active presence on social media this offseason. While sharing lighthearted stories and encounters on his livestream, the Dallas Mavericks guard has also built a greater fan following.

During a recent livestream, Irving was reacting to one of his old interviews. Much to his surprise, a female reporter had asked him for a quickie during the interview, something he hadn’t registered at the time.

Reporter: “I know, being an NBA player, maybe you get asked this question a fair bit. But I was just hoping you might have time for a bit of a quickie with me, is that okay?”

Irving: “Yeah, that’s fine.”

Upon watching the clip, Irving was in shock.

“Oh! Wait, what?” exclaimed the guard. “Oh my god! Did she just ask me for a f***ing quickie? Oh nah… That was wild. My PR team would be like, ‘Yo, what?’ Nah. No. We’re not doing this.”

Irving seemed amused while analyzing the video. “It’s just dirty jokes, y’all,” he added. “The fact that she went into this, I didn’t catch it, but this is what I’m saying. Just certain things used to be going over my head; this went completely over my f***ing head.

He continued by pointing out that the reporter was probably joking, as he noticed some minor gestures she made before asking the question. When considering that the guard was being interviewed with his father sitting next to him, it surely made for an embarrassing, yet hilarious, ordeal for all parties involved.

Irving’s livestreams have been a source of entertainment this offseason. While showcasing some humorous moments, the content has also featured insightful and deeply personal stories.

In many ways, the streaming efforts have helped create a more holistic image of Irving’s personality off the court. In light of some of the media controversies associated with him, it’s encouraging to see the nine-time All-Star represent himself positively.

As enjoyable as Irving’s livestreams are, it is evident that fans are hyped to see him in action as soon as possible. Unfortunately, due to delays in recovery, Irving is expected to be sidelined for longer than initially anticipated.

This could throw a wrench in Dallas’ plans for the upcoming season. Given Irving’s value as a leader and offensive threat, the Mavs were heavily dependent upon their star’s production.

Regardless, the Dallas Mavericks have made some key additions in the offseason, positioning them as a competitive team in the Western Conference. Given the circumstances, the Mavericks are expected to see D’Angelo Russell step into the starting point guard role.

The upcoming season still has a lot of promise for Dallas. While looking forward to the performances led by their star big man, Anthony Davis, the Mavs will also keep a close eye on the growth and development of their rookie sensation, Cooper Flagg.
