This is a hilarious story, and Hakeem Olajuwon might be one of the first players in NBA history to have gotten the better of Kevin Garnett when talking trash. Garnett is known as one of the most ruthless and savage trash talkers in NBA history, so for Olajuwon to leave him perplexed is a real accomplishment.
Olajuwon is from Nigeria, and English wasn’t his first language. So for him to rely on the more traditional way of speaking rather than slang and vernacular that American NBA players would be using during his playing days was definitely a challenge.
