After the 2024 Olympic Games, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant will return to being opponents as they switch gears back to NBA action. But according to Gilbert Arenas, they’d be better off joining forces in New York for one last run at a title.

“Just as a basketball fan, do it. It’d be Golden State or the Lakers… Personally just to f*ck history up, I go to New York. They win a championship, I guarantee you whatever they say about KD and LeBron James, New York fans will stand ground.”

LeBron, Durant, and Curry are the three pillars of the modern NBA and they are some of the most accomplished athletes in the world. This summer, they came together in a rare moment to represent Team USA at the Olympic Games and they completely stole the show.

Now that it’s over, all three players will return to their respective cities in order to prepare for the season ahead. For LeBron James, 39, that means going back to Los Angeles in order to help the Lakers return to contention with Anthony Davis and his son Bronny. In San Francisco, Stephen Curry (a 4x champion) will be tasked with leading the Warriors for the first time without Klay Thompson on the roster. Meanwhile, his former teammate 14x All-Star Kevin Durant still has goals of winning a championship with the Suns.

With all three players on separate missions, and approaching 40, the chances aren’t great that we’ll see them on the same team again before the end of their careers. In the case of LeBron and Curry, we have it on good authority that this summer was the last chance to see them wear the same jersey.

Of course, if they ever did link up, it would have to be on a big market team like the Lakers or Bulls. As one of the most valuable franchises in sports, the Knicks might be the best destination of all to house a superteam of the three most successful players of the modern NBA. The franchise itself has been in disarray for decades now but New York City is the biggest in the country with plenty of opportunities for a successful athlete. Madison Square Garden is considered the mecca of basketball culture and the fanbase is one of the biggest in the world spread out over all four corners of the globe.

Currently, with Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks already have a strong core of veterans. But with LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant, it would turn up the heat to an entirely new degree.

The fans, and the city, would go crazy for the Knicks dynasty and they’d instantly become the most interesting team in the league. Online, the Knicks community would go to war for their superstars and defend them from criticism every chance they got.

No matter what happens with their current group, the Knicks deserve a superstar and people have been eager to see the city rally behind an athlete for years now. With LeBron, Curry, and Durant, the city would have three new reasons to go crazy for their team and hype them up with the kind of energy they deserve.
