Isiah Thomas, the legendary NBA point guard, recently shared his thoughts on LeBron James’ unprecedented impact on the game during an interview with Kory Woods from Michigan Live. Thomas, known for his analytical approach and deep understanding of basketball history, didn’t hold back in his praise for LeBron, highlighting the sheer breadth of his accomplishments across multiple statistical categories.

“I think when you look at, like I say, he’s touched and he leads in almost every statistical category. He’s passed Kareem in scoring. I think he’s got the most playoff points. Not only that, when you look at the assist column, I know where I stand on the assist record.”

“I think he’s passed me; I think he’s passed Magic on the assist record. I mean, so when you talk about passing, scoring, rebounding, we’ve never had a player in the NBA that has touched every statistical category and leads in some of these statistical categories that we’re talking about.”

“There’s never been another player like him. Now, everyone has their favorites, but if the numbers don’t lie, the numbers don’t lie. And he definitely passes the eye test. So to me, he’s the best that I’ve ever seen from a team standpoint and also as a basketball player.”

Thomas emphasized LeBron’s remarkable versatility and consistency throughout his career. He pointed out that LeBron has surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, a feat that cements his place among the greatest to ever play the game.

But it wasn’t just scoring that impressed Thomas. He also lauded LeBron’s achievements in other key areas, particularly his ability to facilitate and contribute to team success. Thomas acknowledged that LeBron’s passing ability rivals that of the greatest point guards in NBA history, including Magic Johnson and Thomas himself. Thomas was quick to emphasize that LeBron’s unique ability to excel in multiple facets of the game sets him apart from any other player in NBA history.

In closing, Isiah Thomas reiterated his belief that LeBron James is the best player he has ever seen, both from a team standpoint and as an individual talent. “The numbers don’t lie. And he definitely passes the eye test,” Thomas said, making it clear that in his eyes, LeBron is unparalleled in the history of the sport.

Isiah Thomas Still Considers Magic Johnson The Greatest Point Guard

In a recent interview with Kory Woods from Michigan Live, NBA legend Isiah Thomas made it clear that, in his eyes, Magic Johnson still holds the title of the greatest point guard in basketball history. Despite the ongoing debates and comparisons with other elite point guards like Stephen Curry and himself, Thomas emphasized that Magic’s impact on the game is unparalleled.

“Well, I know who’s number one, and that’s Magic Johnson. We’ve never seen anything like him. And when you talk about what he was able to do, I mean, there’s no player that really compares to him.”

“Now, there have been some that are similar, but there’s nobody like Magic, so let’s not even have that conversation because he’s the one, right? And now, when you get to small players like myself and Curry who have won, it’s a good conversation and it’s a good debate because we both have won, but we did it differently.”

“Now, people can choose which one they like the most, but there’s no argument that we both did it and we both won. So it’s a matter of taste, and I’m just happy as a small guy to be in the conversation. So if I’m in the conversation, I’m fine. But when it comes to number one, that’s Magic Johnson.”

He went on to explain that Magic’s unique combination of size, skill, and leadership set him apart from any other player in NBA history. Thomas acknowledged that while there have been point guards who are similar to Magic in some respects, none have been able to match his overall impact on the game.

The conversation then turned to smaller point guards like Thomas himself and Stephen Curry, who have both found immense success in the NBA. Thomas recognized the greatness of Curry and acknowledged that their achievements, though different in style, have earned them a place in the debate over the best point guards.

Thomas expressed satisfaction in being part of the conversation among the greatest point guards, despite the differences in their playing styles.  However, when it comes to identifying the best, Thomas left no room for doubt. “But when it comes to number one, that’s Magic Johnson,” he concluded, reinforcing his belief that Magic’s legacy as the greatest point guard is secure and unmatched.
