Stephen Curry has never played in the Olympic games before, making his debut for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Curry opened his Olympic record with a win, as Serbia fell 110-84 to the USA. Curry admitted after the win that he had pregame jitters.

“I think I had a lot of nerves pre-game up until the national anthem. It’s a really cool environment in there and obviously it was sold out to the nosebleeds and the energy was great. Putting on this jersey at this level like you said I’ve been looking forward to it for a very long time and I’m just enjoying the moment so that’s why you see me so animated from the open ceremonies to tonight when I’m on the bench like I’m loving it so I want to have something to show for it at the end too.”

Curry had compared playing in his first-ever Olympics to being a kid in a candy store when he spoke to Fadeaway World in Abu Dhabi.

“It’s been an amazing experience so far. The energy of this group, a lot of guys who have accomplished a lot of things in their basketball careers, and it just seems like we’re having fun playing the game… Everything around the Olympics, I’m like a kid in a candy store because I’ve never experienced it before.”

Steph had a decent Olympic debut, putting up 11 points in the win as he watched LeBron James and Kevin Durant take over for dominant performances in a 26-point win over three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and his countrymen.

Stephen Curry Loved Teaming Up With Kevin Durant And LeBron James

The biggest talking point about the construction of Team USA’s Paris 2024 roster is the fact that LeBron James led the charge to make sure Curry and Kevin Durant joined him at the Olympics. Curry reacted to watching both James and Durant dominate in their win over Serbia.

“That’s the beauty of this experience. Rekindling some old flames with KD. Playing with guys I’ve never played before like LeBron James and Anthony Davis and the rest of the crew that we have. I’m having the time of my life and enjoying every minute of it.”

Curry specifically harped on Durant’s performance, as he scored 24 points on just nine shots (8-9 FG).

“Nothing he does is surprising. Being so perfect in the first half. He had 21 or something like that. It’s special and he’s so used to this stage. He’s the all-time lead scorer in the USA Basketball history for a reason. It’s great to see him. I know he’s chomping at the bit all exhibition window to get out there so it’s great to see him play, have fun, and enjoy the group.

This group of Team USA players are among the most talented in the history of the sport. Hopefully, they don’t falter in the face of the most competitive international field in the history of the sport.
