The next generation of NBA players were seen in action at the 2024 NBA Draft Combine to get their official measurements ahead of the NBA Draft in June. Among the participants, Bronny James was also present. Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that teams around the NBA are intrigued about drafting Bronny after his showing.

“If Bronny James is going to have an impact for organizations, not just on the court but on the business side, he’s almost sure to get a start in the G League. He will pack the G League arenas with merchandising. All of those make him an attractive player, whether late first-round or second-round. The opportunity for him to play in the NBA is there.”

Outside of his height, Bronny’s Combine showing was impressive and definitely helped his Draft stock.

His medical clearance will ease the worries of teams concerned about his cardiac health while his physical gifts make him seem like an NBA-ready defensive prospect. His height is a major concern, but everything else looks to match the quality of an NBA player.

Bronny is expected to stay in the NBA Draft instead of returning to college for a second season. His Combine results were encouraging.

Height (without shoes): 6’1.50″

Weight: 210.4 pounds

Wingspan: 6’7.25″

Vertical jump: 40.5 inches

Standing vertical: 32 inches

Standing reach: 8’2.50″

His vertical was the fourth-highest of any participant on the day, showing Bronny’s athletic prowess might be encouraging enough for a selection. His height came as a shock to many, as James was listed at 6’4″ for his freshman college season. Even for a point guard, his size will be a cause for concern for scouts around the NBA.

James’ physical tools outside of his height show that he’s an NBA-caliber player.

He’s added weight and muscle while possessing all the required skills to be a fierce 3-and-D player in the NBA. Concerns about his outside shooting were played off after Bronny excelled in the 3-point shooting drill.

Bronny is bound to be drafted by someone or the other in the 2024 NBA Draft, but the main question will be if the Lakers are using their first-round pick on the young guard or if they have another way of ensuring he wears the purple and gold his father has on right now.

If Bronny gets drafted, he’ll be the first player in NBA history to play in the league at the same time as their father. If he and LeBron share the floor together, they’ll likely set an untouchable milestone of the only father-son duo to be teammates in an NBA game.

Bronny Expected To Join The Lakers

Brian Windhorst has reported that the Lakers are widely expected to draft Bronny, whether it’s by executing a trade or using a second-round pick on the USC guard.

“And I also will say this, I think if the Lakers have an opportunity to draft Bronny James, they will do so. Whether that’s with the 55th pick or if they make another deal around the draft where they pick up another pick, I think they will try. I do not think it’s going to be their top priority.”

If the Lakers draft Bronny, they’ll feel they can almost guarantee LeBron re-signs with them. But if a team like the Philadelphia 76ers plays spoilsport to try and pry LeBron away from the Lakers by giving him an opportunity to play with his son, it could put the Lakers in a tough spot.
